Despite all recent efforts that companies have put into making their operations safe for workers, most companies have found that there is a risk taking culture amongst their drivers that just isn’t evident in any other part of the organisation.
In most organisations, when a crash occurs it is treated as an unfortunate but unavoidable by-product of operating a fleet of vehicles.
It is assumed that simply referring the driver to a favorite repairer will deal with the cost of the repairs. It is assumed that providing a so called “no cost” loan car will take care of the driver’s downtime. It is assumed that referring the claim to the insurance company will control the costs. It is assumed that training each driver every so often will take care of any OH&S obligations.
It will come as no surprise that these assumptions are wrong…………..
